July 2006 Newsletter

As we continue to seek ways to serve others, we must not forget to serve ourselves.  Through a desire to grow as individuals, and as a group, and in order to begin focusing on our spiritual lives to become more Christ-like, we are striving to offer more opportunities for women to worship, fellowship, share and study God’s word together.  One recent attempt was making a change to our Mother’s Day Luncheon.  In an effort to shift the focus from just enjoying each other to enjoying who we are, or more correctly who we should/could be, in Christ AND enjoying each other, we decided to make our luncheon more informal and spiritual by offering a time of fellowship with our mothers and “mother figures” and also a time of devotion to really examine our lives and find ways that we can become beautiful women in Christ.  It is amazing how God can move among a room full of women fully focused and centered on how they reflect Christ.  It was a great time of personal reflection and an opportunity to make memories with those who are blessings from God.

We want to thank all of the women who sacrificed their time to come together and support a life changing cause, the Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society.  God has provided wonderful medical professionals with the knowledge to research this disease and has allowed many successful methods to be found to prolong lives, to which we give Him all the praise.  May those lives affected bring glory to the Creator.

It is with mixed emotion that we announce we will begin a new Beth Moore bible study, “Jesus the One and Only” in the Women’s Sunday School class in late September.  It is hard to believe we have almost completed our study on the apostle Paul.  We have laughed, cried and shared with each other.  Our prayer is that we have all grown a little closer to the Savior and have equipped ourselves to deal with what life brings us through this study.  If you are not attending our class and would like to start with the new series, please watch and listen for information that will be coming in the next few months.  As always you can see Jennifer Asbury or Paula Lilly for more information on the class.

It is with great excitement that we will be planning our own bus trip to the 2007 Women of Faith Amazing Freedom conference in Columbus, OH on April 27 & 28, 2007.  We have 45 tickets available and are now working on getting prices for the bus and hotel rooms.  We intend to start a payment plan in September.  Please watch/listen for more information.
